Composite materials scientist to lead development of BladeBoard® and materials innovation in the company's Recover workstream
Reblade has appointed Dr David Bryce as Materials Solutions Manager, a senior addition to the company's growing team.
David is a composite materials scientist who has worked on the recovery and reuse of wind turbine blade material for close to ten years. His PhD at the University of Strathclyde examined how glass fibre and resin bond and perform within turbine blades, and his work since then has moved steadily from the laboratory towards the production line. His track record includes taking a recycling process through environmental permitting and creating recycled composite products that are suitable for high-volume production.
At Reblade, David will lead the continued development of BladeBoard®, the company's high-performance structural composite panels made from recovered blade material. He has already visited BladeBoard® in production and is identifying ways to extend its performance and optimise its manufacture. He will also be responsible for work on reclaiming concrete, stone, oil and magnets, focusing on innovation within Reblade's Recover workstream.
His arrival strengthens Reblade's materials management expertise, which sits alongside the company's technical consultancy service and on-site decommissioning work. Together, they allow Reblade to support clients through every stage of wind farm decommissioning, from planning a project to recovering value from the materials it produces.
Fiona Lindsay, Co-founder of Reblade, said: "We're delighted that someone with David's knowledge and experience has chosen to come to Reblade. He arrives at an exciting point for the company, and his appointment is an important step for BladeBoard® and for the business as we continue to grow."
